Walk in my World: Aboriginal Peoples with disabilities


 
Want to learn more about unique challenges faced by Aboriginal people with disabilities?  Paige Isaac, Coordinator of McGill’s First Peoples’ House and Michael Dell, host of “Walk in My World” will be here to discuss.

Michael Dell is 38 years old and resides in Kahnawake Mohawk Territory, Quebec. He was born with Cerebral Pasy. Mike attended the McKay Center from age 4-21 yeas old and also John Grant School in Lachine, Quebec from 18-25 years old. Currently, he is attending the Kahnawake Learning Center (KLC) to improve on various subjects. While attending the KLC, Mike Created the show Walk In My World with the assistance of KLC and Mohawk TV. It was created to give a voice to the people with various disabilities, as well as to educate the community of Kahnawake on disabilities. Michael believes he brings a unique perspectives because he lives with a disability. He states that, “I do not pretend to know about every disability,” and is learning just as the community is with the creation of each show. “I take pride in what I do and try to deliver a good product with love and respect for everyone to enjoy.”
